Abri-Flex Protective Underwear
Abri-Flex is Abena's line of pull-on protective underwear, designed to wear and move like real underwear while managing moderate to heavy incontinence. Every style in this collection is unisex, latex-free, and features tear-away seams — so caregivers can remove a soiled product without pulling it down over the legs, an important detail for bedbound or limited-mobility users. If you're weighing whether pull-on underwear fits your situation, the short answer is: Abri-Flex works best for people who are active and prefer to manage changes independently, while still needing dependable protection.
The collection is organized by Abena's absorbency system, which is where most of the buying decisions happen. The numbers indicate absorbency level, and the letters indicate size:
- Level 1 (S1, M1, L1): Moderate absorbency for daytime use and lighter leakage — the S1 (41071), M1 (41083), and L1 (41086) cover small through large.
- Level 2 (M2, 41084): Heavy absorbency in a trimmer profile, suited to active daytime wear.
- Level 3 (M3, L3): The highest absorbency here, built for nighttime or extended wear — the L3 (16825) reaches X-Large.
Getting the size right matters more than reaching for the highest absorbency. Abri-Flex is sized by hip and waist measurement, and a snug fit around the legs and waist is what prevents leaks — a product that's too large will gap and fail regardless of its rated capacity. Medium and Large run through multiple absorbency levels, so many users start with an L1 or M1 for day and step up to a Level 3 overnight rather than choosing a single product for everything.
All Abri-Flex underwear uses a breathable, cloth-like backing and an odor-control core to keep skin dry and comfortable through the wear period. For users who prefer belted or fastened protection instead of pull-ons, see Abri-Fix fixation pants paired with Abri-San pad-style inserts, or explore the smaller Abri-Let booster pads for added capacity.
