AlbaHealth Medical Textiles
AlbaHealth manufactures two things exceptionally well, and both address problems that show up daily in casting rooms and on patient floors: cotton tubular stockinette that protects skin under orthopedic appliances, and skid-resistant slipper socks that reduce patient falls. This collection carries both lines, so orthopedic techs and nursing staff can order what they actually reach for.
The Albahealth Natural Cotton Tubular Stockinettes come in 2", 3", and 4" widths on 25-yard rolls (styles 81220, 81320, 81420) — the size range covers everything from a wrist to a thigh. Applied under a plaster or fiberglass cast, the soft cotton weave prevents chafing, wicks moisture, and gives the shell a clean edge to roll over. The wider 81620 tubular rolls work the same way under casts and over dressings, and they're also used to cushion the skin against cervical collars and other rigid orthopedic hardware. All are non-sterile, which is standard for cast padding — you're covering intact skin, not a wound.
On the fall-prevention side, AlbaHealth's slipper socks are a recognized part of hospital protocols. The Care-Steps and Terry Treads lines feature skid-resistant or double-tread soles that grip hard flooring when a patient stands or shuffles to the bathroom — the moment falls happen most. The bright yellow Care-Steps serve double duty as a visual fall-risk flag staff can spot from the doorway, while the terry-cloth versions add warmth and come sized medium through 2X-large so the fit is snug enough to stay put. They're reusable and launder well, which matters for facility cost per wear.
When you're stocking a cast cart or refreshing your fall-management supplies, matching width and sole type to the patient is what makes these products work. Explore the full range above, and pair the stockinette with the rest of our Wound Care & First Aid supplies as your protocols require.
