Biatain is Coloplast's advanced foam dressing line built around one core problem: managing exudate without letting moisture damage the surrounding skin. The polyurethane foam absorbs vertically and holds fluid even under compression, which is why clinicians reach for Biatain on pressure injuries, leg and foot ulcers, and surgical or post-operative wounds where drainage is moderate to heavy.

Adhesive, non-adhesive, or shaped to the wound

For contoured areas, the Biatain Adhesive Foam Sacral Dressing (9 x 9 inch, 3485) is cut to sit over the sacrum and stay secure with a gentle hydrocolloid border, while the square 7 x 7 inch adhesive foam (3423) handles flatter locations. When periwound skin is fragile or a secondary retention layer is already in use, non-adhesive versions avoid pulling at healing tissue. Choose your size against the wound bed plus a margin of surrounding skin so the foam can absorb without pooling at the edges.

When silver matters

The Biatain Ag range adds ionic silver for wounds that are infected or at high risk of infection. Options include the calcium alginate dressings in 4 x 4 inch (3760) and 6 x 6 inch (3765) squares plus a rope form (3780) for packing cavities and tunneling wounds, along with a non-adhesive Ag foam (9622). The alginate versions gel on contact with exudate, making them well suited to deeper, heavily draining sites, while the foam delivers silver in a more absorbent surface pad.
