Keeping a BiPAP machine running the way it should comes down to the small parts most people overlook: clean filters, an intact hose, and a safe way to carry the unit when you travel. Filters are the parts you'll replace most often. How often should you change them? As a general rule, rinse reusable foam filters weekly and replace them roughly every three months; swap disposable fine filters every two to four weeks, or sooner if they look gray or you live with pets, smoke, or seasonal allergies. Fresh filters protect the motor and keep you from breathing in what your machine is supposed to catch.
