Carboflex Odor-Control Wound Dressings

Malodor is one of the most distressing aspects of managing fungating tumors, chronic leg ulcers, infected wounds, and heavily exudating wounds — for both patients and caregivers. Carboflex dressings from ConvaTec address this directly, combining an activated charcoal odor-absorbing layer with an absorbent Hydrofiber wound-contact surface that manages exudate and helps maintain a moist healing environment.

The dressing works in layers: the charcoal core traps the volatile compounds responsible for wound odor, while the Hydrofiber component gels on contact with fluid to lock away exudate and reduce maceration of surrounding skin. Because the wound-contact layer is non-adherent, dressing changes are gentler and less likely to disturb the healing bed.

Choosing the right size matters. We stock the Carboflex 4 x 4 inch (403202) for smaller wounds and everyday odor control, the 3 x 6 inch (403203) for longer or irregular wounds, and the larger 6 x 8 inch (403204) for extensive or heavily draining areas. All are sterile, borderless — allowing you to secure them with your preferred retention dressing or tape — and packaged for single-use clinical or home application.

Carboflex is commonly used on pressure injuries, diabetic and venous ulcers, surgical wounds, and palliative fungating lesions where odor management is a priority. It can typically stay in place for up to several days depending on exudate levels, and pairs well with a secondary absorbent cover for wounds producing higher volumes of fluid.
