These sterile, white dressings, measuring 2 x 2 inches (5.1 x 5.1 centimeters), are a unique M<0xC3><0xA0> McKesson Collagen Dressing made from a combination of collagen, sodium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid (EDTA). Upon contact with wound exudates, the dressing transforms into a soothing gel, providing a cool sensation that enhances patient comfort. The alginate and CMC components work to absorb wound drainage while maintaining an optimal moisture balance, which is crucial for promoting granulation tissue formation and epithelialization. These dressings are indicated for a wide range of full and partial thickness wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, ulcers caused by mixed vascular etiologies, venous ulcers, donor and graft sites, abrasions, traumatic wounds healing by secondary intention, dehisced surgical wounds, and first and second-degree burns.
