Comfyprene Splints & Orthotic Materials

Comfyprene is a soft, foam-lined orthotic material used by therapists and clinicians to fabricate padded splints and positioning devices for the hand, wrist, elbow, foot, and ankle. What sets it apart from traditional low-temperature thermoplastics is its cushioned construction: a firm thermoplastic core sandwiched between layers of soft foam, so the finished splint stays supportive where it needs to be while remaining gentle against the skin.

That combination makes Comfyprene a frequent choice for patients who can't tolerate rigid, hard-shell orthoses — those with fragile skin, edema, spasticity, contractures, or heightened sensitivity. Because it's forgiving against bony prominences and pressure-sensitive areas, it's widely used in pediatric care, neurological rehabilitation, and burn management, as well as for resting hand and drop-foot positioning.
