It's designed to be reheated and remolded repeatedly, so a splint can be adjusted as swelling subsides or range of motion improves — a practical advantage over materials that lose workability after a few reheats. Many clinicians appreciate that it bonds to itself when heated, simplifying the addition of straps, flanges, or reinforcement without extra adhesives.
