DermaCol Collagen Wound Dressings
When a wound stalls in the inflammatory phase and just won't progress, collagen dressings give the healing cascade something to build on. DermaCol, made by DermaRite, is a fibrillar collagen matrix that supports granulation and helps manage chronic and slow-healing wounds — pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, surgical wounds, skin tears, and partial- to full-thickness wounds with light to moderate exudate.
The dressing works by providing a scaffold of Type 1 collagen that the body recognizes and incorporates as new tissue forms. As it interacts with wound fluid, it forms a gel that keeps the wound bed moist while conforming to irregular surfaces and tunneling areas. It's non-adhesive and sterile, so it layers cleanly under a secondary cover dressing of your choice.
