DermaView Transparent Film Dressings

DermaView by DermaRite is a line of transparent film wound dressings built around a simple idea: you should be able to watch a wound heal without disturbing it. The thin, breathable film creates a waterproof, bacterial barrier while staying clear enough to inspect the site for signs of infection or drainage — so dressing changes happen when the wound needs them, not on a guessing schedule.

The collection splits into two useful types. DermaView II Island dressings pair the transparent film with a non-adherent absorbent pad, making them a good primary dressing for minor cuts, abrasions, surgical incisions, and skin tears where light exudate is present and you don't want gauze sticking to the wound bed. You'll find them in practical sizes like 2 x 2.75 in (16220), 2.75 x 4 in (16240), and a larger 3-1/2 x 4 in rectangle (16340).

The plain DermaView II Transparent Film dressings (00252E, 00253E, 00254E) skip the pad and work as a secondary cover, IV site dressing, or protection for at-risk skin, blisters, and Stage I pressure areas. Ranging from roughly 2.5 x 2.75 in up to 6-1/2 x 8-3/8 in, they include a labeled application frame that keeps the film from wrinkling as you place it — a small feature that makes a real difference when you're working one-handed. All are sterile.

Choosing between them comes down to drainage: reach for an Island dressing when there's fluid to absorb, and a plain film when you mainly need a protective, moisture-retentive seal. For minimal to moderate exudate, most caregivers keep both formats on hand.
