DuPad Abdominal Pads

When a wound produces heavy exudate, standard gauze isn't enough. DuPad abdominal pads from Integra LifeSciences are high-absorbency dressings built to manage moderate-to-heavy drainage from surgical incisions, post-operative sites, and larger wounds where fluid control and skin protection matter most. Each pad arrives sterile and individually wrapped, making them ready for direct application in operating rooms, treatment carts, and home-care settings alike.

The pads use a soft cellulose fill in a 1-ply construction, giving them the wicking capacity to pull fluid away from the wound bed while staying comfortable against the skin. The rectangular shape lays flat over broad areas and conforms well when taped or wrapped, and the white, low-lint surface makes it easy to spot changes in drainage during a dressing check.

Two sizes cover most clinical needs. The 5 x 9 inch DuPad (ref 87059) handles incisions and mid-sized wounds, while the larger 8 x 10 inch DuPad (ref 87810) is suited to abdominal surgical sites, C-section coverage, and any wound requiring a wider absorbent footprint. Because both are sterile, they're appropriate as a primary dressing over an open wound, not only as a secondary absorbent layer.

A common question is how DuPads differ from ordinary gauze sponges: the answer is capacity and coverage. Where 4x4 gauze is meant for cleaning and light drainage, abdominal pads are engineered to absorb and hold far more fluid over a larger surface, reducing how often a dressing needs changing. That translates to less disruption to healing tissue and fewer supply changes over a day of care.
