Econo-Paste Conforming Zinc Oxide Paste Bandages

Econo-Paste conforming paste bandages are knitted gauze dressings impregnated with soothing zinc oxide paste, most commonly reached for when managing venous leg ulcers, edema, stasis dermatitis, and other lower-extremity conditions that call for compression combined with skin protection. The zinc oxide helps calm irritated, inflamed skin while the flexible knitted gauze molds to the contours of the leg and ankle, staying put without cutting into tissue as swelling changes throughout the day.

The line comes in two formulations. Standard Econo-Paste uses zinc oxide paste alone, while Econo-Paste Plus Calamine adds calamine for extra relief when itching and irritation are part of the picture. Both are available in 3-inch and 4-inch widths, each measuring 10 yards, and can be purchased as a single dressing or by the case of 12 for clinics and wound-care programs that go through them steadily. Choosing the width usually comes down to the limb: narrower rolls conform more easily around the ankle and lower calf, while 4-inch is efficient for larger areas.

These bandages are typically applied by a clinician and covered with a self-adherent or compression wrap to hold everything in place—they are not a stand-alone adhesive dressing. Because the paste stays moist, they support a favorable healing environment and are generally changed every few days per a provider's protocol rather than daily.

If you're stocking a broader wound-care shelf, pair these with an outer layer such as Econo-Wrap LF cohesive bandages, or browse related value-focused supplies across the Econo and Econo Mate collections. For zinc-based skin protection in a topical form, see Triple Paste.
