Excyte Vacuum Tubes for ESR Testing

The Excyte Vacuum Tube line from ELITech Group is built for one job that lab techs run constantly: the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test. These pre-filled sodium citrate tubes take the guesswork out of the citrate-to-blood dilution ratio, so every draw is standardized and every Westergren result is one you can trust. If your lab runs ESRs by the dozen, consistency at the tube level is what keeps your quality control clean.

You'll find both formats here. The EX-50205 is a sterile glass tube (8 x 120 mm, 1 mL) with a conventional black closure and sodium citrate additive — the traditional choice for labs that prefer glass for optical clarity during sedimentation reads. The EP-10605 is its plastic counterpart, a sterile 120 mm translucent tube holding 1.36 mL with the same sodium citrate chemistry and black-coded stopper. Plastic reduces breakage and sharps risk during transport and disposal, which matters in high-volume draw stations and mobile phlebotomy.

A few things buyers ask before ordering: the black closure is the industry color code for citrate-based ESR tubes, so they slot cleanly into your existing tube-recognition workflow. Both are sterile and single-use. The fixed fill volumes are intentional — the vacuum draws the exact blood-to-citrate ratio the ESR method requires, so avoid short draws that throw off the sedimentation column. Glass versus plastic comes down to your read method and safety policy; the chemistry and results are equivalent.

These tubes are specific to hematology sedimentation testing and aren't interchangeable with feeding or drainage products. If you arrived here looking for something in a different clinical area, our enteral lines like Standard Tube Feeding Formulas and High-Protein Tube Feeding Formulas may be what you need instead.
