FlexPress Compression Bandage Systems
FlexPress by DermaRite is a line of multi-layer compression bandage systems built for managing venous leg ulcers, lymphedema, and chronic edema — the conditions where sustained, graduated pressure is the difference between a wound that heals and one that lingers. If you're a wound care clinician or a patient managing a stubborn lower-limb ulcer, the questions that matter are how much compression you need, how many layers, and whether the wrap will stay put through a full week of wear. This collection answers all three.
The core choice is between two-layer and four-layer systems. The DermaRite FlexPress2 Bandage System (79202) pairs a foam padding layer with a self-adherent cohesive outer layer to deliver standard compression in a lower-profile, easier-to-apply format — a practical option when a bulky four-layer wrap won't fit under footwear or when patient tolerance is a concern. For higher, more sustained sub-bandage pressure, the FlexPress4 four-layer system (79000) combines padding, conformable, and compression layers with a self-adherent or tape closure, engineered to hold therapeutic pressure for up to a week between changes.
Patients newer to compression, or those with mixed arterial-venous concerns where full compression isn't yet appropriate, often start with FlexPress2 Lite (79200). Its reduced compression profile makes it a gentler entry point and a useful step-down as edema resolves.
Sizing runs primarily in 4-inch widths across multiple lengths, so you can match the roll to limb circumference and reduce waste. Sterile options (like the 79202) suit application directly over open wounds, while non-sterile systems serve routine maintenance wrapping. The tan-and-white color coding also helps confirm correct layer sequence during application — a small detail that supports consistent, reproducible compression.
When selecting a system, weigh the ankle-brachial index, the wound stage, and how well the patient tolerates pressure, then choose the layer count and compression grade accordingly.
