FreeStyle Freedom Lite Blood Glucose Monitoring System

The Abbott FreeStyle Freedom Lite is built for people who want blood glucose testing to be quick, low-fuss, and easy on the fingers. Its larger meter body and big, backlit display make it a practical choice for anyone who finds smaller monitors hard to read or hold — a common reason caregivers and older adults reach for this model over a compact meter.

What sets it apart is the FreeStyle technology behind it. The meter needs one of the smallest blood samples in its class — just 0.3 microliters — so you can test with a gentler lance, and it draws from your fingertip or approved alternate sites. Results appear in about 5 seconds. There's no coding required, which removes a step that often trips up new users and reduces the chance of a mis-calibrated reading.

We carry two versions in this collection. The Abbott FreeStyle Freedom Lite (70914) covers the essentials: 5-second results and the same accurate FreeStyle test strips. The FreeStyle Freedom Lite kit (70920) adds programmable alarms — useful reminders for scheduled testing or medication — alongside the small sample size and fast readouts, making it well suited to a structured daily routine.

Both systems use FreeStyle Lite test strips (purchased separately) and store hundreds of results with date and time, so you can review trends or share averages with your care team. Before your first use, check that your lancets and control solution are on hand, and confirm your strips match the FreeStyle Lite line.

If you're comparing easy-to-read meters, you may also want to look at the Clever-Lite talking glucose monitor, which reads results aloud for users with low vision.
