Teleflex Humid-Vent Heat & Moisture Exchangers

When a patient is intubated or breathing through a tracheostomy, the upper airway can no longer warm and humidify inspired gas the way the nose and throat normally would. Left unaddressed, dry gas thickens secretions, damages the mucosa, and impairs ciliary function. The Teleflex Humid-Vent line of heat and moisture exchangers (HMEs) restores that balance passively—capturing heat and water vapor on exhalation and returning it to the patient on the next breath, with no external power or water source required.

This collection spans the full range of clinical needs. The Humid-Vent 1 (11112) suits adult tidal volumes from 50 to 600 mL, while the Humid-Vent 2S (14412) handles higher flows up to 1500 mL and 60 LPM for larger patients or higher minute ventilation. Models with an integrated gas sampling port—such as the Humid-Vent 1 Port (11132) and the 2S—let you monitor capnography or gas concentration without breaking the circuit. When bacterial and viral protection matters, the Humid-Vent Filter-Light (19932) and Gibeck filtered HMEs combine humidification with electrostatic filtration, and the sterile bacteriostatic pediatric model (11012) is built for smaller airways and neonatal-through-pediatric volumes.

Choosing the right unit comes down to matching the device to patient tidal volume and flow rate, deciding whether you need filtration or a monitoring port, and considering added dead space—smaller compact HMEs reduce it, which matters most in pediatric and low-volume ventilation. Straight, angled, and flex-tube configurations help you position the device comfortably at the airway connection. All units are latex-free.

Pair these with related airway humidity and filtration options such as Gibeck Humid-FLO and Trach-Vent for tracheostomy patients, or explore Pro-Vent Plus for additional ventilation circuit accessories.
