Hydrofera Blue Antibacterial Foam Dressings

Recognizable by its distinctive blue color, Hydrofera Blue is a bacteriostatic foam dressing that uses the organic pigments methylene blue and gentian violet to help manage bioburden in a wide range of wounds. Clinicians reach for it on pressure injuries, diabetic and venous ulcers, surgical and traumatic wounds, and colonized or malodorous wounds where controlling bacteria without silver is the goal. The polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) foam works while moist, drawing exudate into the dressing while its antibacterial agents remain active at the wound interface.

Every dressing in this collection is non-adhesive, so it conforms to the wound and requires a secondary cover dressing or wrap to hold it in place — a design that makes it gentle on fragile periwound skin and easy to reposition. Before applying, the foam is typically moistened with sterile saline or water to activate it, and a telltale sign it's time to change the dressing is when the blue color begins to fade.
