Life/Form GERi & KERi Manikins
The Life/Form GERi and KERi line consists of full-body nursing care manikins built for hands-on training in patient care skills. GERi represents a geriatric patient and KERi a younger adult, giving nursing programs, CNA courses, and clinical skills labs realistic models to practice on before working with real patients. Both are designed to withstand repeated classroom use while replicating the anatomy and articulation instructors need for meaningful demonstration.
Educators typically ask what these manikins can actually teach. The answer is broad: bathing and personal hygiene, bed positioning and transfers, catheterization, ostomy care, tube feeding, injections, wound and decubitus ulcer care, denture care, and enema administration. Many configurations include interchangeable or accessory components—male and female genitalia inserts, ostomy sites, and pressure-sore modules—so a single manikin covers a wide skills checklist. The GERi model in particular includes features relevant to aging patients, helping students build the gentleness and awareness that geriatric care demands.
A common question is how GERi differs from KERi. Beyond the geriatric-versus-adult presentation, the two share the same core training capabilities, so programs often choose based on the patient population their students will serve. Both are produced by Nasco's Life/form brand, a long-established name in medical and nursing simulation.
When evaluating a purchase, consider whether you need a basic model or a fully accessorized version, what replacement parts are available, and whether the manikin ships with a care-and-storage guide to protect your investment between sessions. These are durable teaching tools, and proper cleaning extends their working life across many cohorts of students.
