Mepitac Silicone Medical Tape

For anyone whose skin can't tolerate ordinary adhesive tape — fragile elderly skin, pediatric patients, or anyone facing repeated dressing changes — Mepitac from Mölnlycke solves the real problem: securing dressings and tubing without tearing skin on removal. Its Safetac silicone adhesive sticks gently but reliably, then lifts away without stripping the top layer of skin or leaving painful residue, which makes it a go-to for wound-care nurses and caregivers managing sensitive skin day after day.

We carry Mepitac in the two sizes clinicians reach for most. The 1.5 inch x 59 inch roll (298400) gives you extra width for securing larger dressings and pads, while the 3/4 inch x 118 inch roll (298300) — available individually or as a case of 12 — offers a narrower profile for fixing tubes, drains, and probes, plus more length per roll for higher-volume settings. Both are tan, non-sterile, and share the same skin-friendly silicone construction.

What sets this tape apart is that it's moisture-proof yet breathable, so it stays put during bathing or perspiration while still letting the skin underneath transpire — a balance that reduces maceration and skin breakdown under the adhesive. It conforms well over joints and curved areas, can often be repositioned during application without losing tack, and cuts cleanly to size. Because removal is atraumatic, it's ideal wherever the same site is taped repeatedly.

Mepitac pairs naturally with foam and contact-layer dressings in our broader Wound Care range and with other securement options in our Medical Tapes collection. For fragile-skin protocols, keeping a roll of each width on hand covers most everyday dressing and device-fixation needs.
