Mesalt Sodium Chloride Impregnated Dressings
Mesalt is a hypertonic wound dressing made by Mölnlycke, designed to handle the exudate-heavy, contaminated, and infected wounds that ordinary gauze struggles with. Each dressing is absorbent viscose/polyester gauze impregnated with sodium chloride. When it contacts wound fluid, the salt creates an osmotic effect that draws exudate, bacteria, and necrotic debris away from the wound bed and into the dressing — supporting the cleansing phase of healing without chemicals or additives.
This makes Mesalt a go-to for heavily secreting wounds, infected surgical sites, abscesses, and cavity or sinus wounds that need packing. The ribbon format is built precisely for that job.
