Narcan (Naloxone) Nasal Spray

Narcan is a naloxone nasal spray used to rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. In an emergency—slowed or stopped breathing, unresponsiveness, blue-tinged lips or fingertips after opioid use—a single spray delivered into one nostril can begin restoring normal breathing within minutes. It works on prescription painkillers, heroin, and fentanyl, and it does nothing harmful if given to someone who turns out not to have opioids in their system, which is why it's safe to use whenever an overdose is suspected.

Because seconds matter, Narcan is designed for anyone to use without medical training. There's no needle, no assembly, and no measuring—you peel open the package, hold the sprayer, and press the plunger. Always call 911 first, give a dose, and stay with the person; naloxone can wear off before the opioids do, so a second dose may be needed and emergency responders should evaluate anyone who has overdosed.
