OpSite Transparent Film Dressings & Tape
OpSite, made by Smith & Nephew, is a trusted name in transparent film dressings — the thin, breathable, waterproof films that create a barrier against bacteria and fluids while letting you see the wound underneath. That combination of visibility and protection is why clinicians reach for OpSite to cover IV and catheter sites, minor surgical incisions, abrasions, and lacerations. The film flexes and moves with the skin, so it stays put over joints and awkward contours without lifting.
The OpSite Flexigrid Transparent Film Dressing (6 x 8 inch) is built around a printed grid backing that makes accurate application easy and lets you document wound measurements at a glance. For a sterile, ready-to-use option, the OpSite Transparent Film Dressing (4 x 5-1/2 inch) uses a two-tab delivery system that helps you place the film cleanly without it folding back on itself — a small detail that saves wasted dressings.
When a wound needs both protection and fluid management, the OpSite Post-Op Visible Absorbent Wound Dressing (4 x 4 inch) pairs a soft absorbent pad with a transparent film border, so you can monitor exudate and the surrounding skin without disturbing the surgical site. Fewer dressing changes mean less trauma to healing tissue and less discomfort for the patient.
For securing dressings, tubing, or devices, OpSite Flexifix retention tape comes on continuous rolls in 2-inch and 4-inch widths (11 yards each). It's waterproof, conformable, and cut-to-length, making it a versatile fixation film for hard-to-tape areas. Note that Flexifix and Flexigrid are supplied non-sterile, while the Post-Op and two-tab film dressings are sterile — worth checking against your intended use.
OpSite film is generally shower-safe once applied and left intact, a common question for both post-op patients and anyone covering an IV site. Explore more options in Wound Care and our full range of Transparent Film Dressings.
