Pedi-Tube Pediatric Nasogastric Feeding Tubes

When an infant or child needs enteral nutrition, the feeding tube itself has to be gentle enough for delicate nasal passages yet reliable enough to stay placed and deliver formula without interruption. The Cardinal Health Pedi-Tube line answers both concerns with soft radiopaque polyurethane construction sized specifically for pediatric patients, giving clinicians and caregivers a tube designed around the smaller anatomy and lower flow needs of young children.

Both tubes we carry are 6 French, 36 inches long, and sterile — the standard pediatric NG configuration. The key difference comes down to placement and confirmation. The Pedi-Tube with stylet and tungsten weight (8884730766) uses a weighted tip and guidewire to ease insertion and help the tube advance and settle correctly, which many clinicians prefer for initial placements. The dual-port version without stylet (8884730774) offers separate ports for feeding and medication or flushing, streamlining care once the tube is in place. The radiopaque polyurethane in both allows x-ray confirmation of tip position before feeding begins.

Polyurethane is chosen here for good reason: it resists the stiffening and clouding that shortens the life of older PVC tubes, so a Pedi-Tube can typically remain indwelling longer with less irritation. Caregivers weighing which version to order should think about who places the tube and how feeds are managed — weighted-stylet tubes suit facilities doing frequent placements, while dual-port designs make daily home or bedside feeding and dosing more convenient.

Once a tube is in place, the right formula matters as much as the delivery method.
