Promogran Matrix Collagen Wound Dressings
Promogran Matrix dressings are designed for chronic and stalled wounds that need help moving past the inflammatory phase of healing. Built from a freeze-dried blend of collagen and oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), the matrix binds and inactivates the excess protease enzymes found in wounds like diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and pressure injuries — proteases that would otherwise break down the growth factors your body needs to rebuild tissue. When it contacts wound exudate, the dressing transforms into a soft, conformable gel that stays in intimate contact with the wound bed.
This collection carries the standard Promogran Matrix Collagen Dressing (PG004), a sterile 4-1/3 x 4-1/3 inch hexagonal collagen/ORC dressing, alongside the 3M Promogran Prisma Matrix with Silver (MA028) in the same size. The Prisma version adds ionic silver for antimicrobial protection, making it the choice for wounds where bioburden or infection risk is a concern; the standard Promogran suits clean wounds where protease management alone is the goal.
Clinicians often ask how to apply it: the dressing is non-adhesive and applied directly to a clean, moist wound bed, then covered with a secondary dressing to hold it in place and manage exudate. It's resorbable — as the gel is absorbed, less frequent changes are typically needed, which supports undisturbed healing. Choose the size closest to the wound dimensions, and cut to fit as needed.
These dressings are manufactured under the same clinical wound-care standards you'll find across our Matrix Medical and broader Matrix collections. For advanced wound protocols, pairing Promogran with an appropriate secondary cover dressing gives you a complete, evidence-supported approach to hard-to-heal wounds.
