3M Reston Foam Products
3M Reston self-adhering foam is a clinician's tool for one job done well: cushioning skin and bony prominences against pressure and friction. Caregivers and facilities reach for it when a patient spends long hours in a bed, wheelchair, or on the surgical table, and vulnerable areas — heels, elbows, sacrum, the bridge of the nose under respiratory equipment — need soft, distributed support before a pressure injury has a chance to start.
This collection features the 3M Reston Foam Dressing, 4 x 196 inch (1563L), a lightweight, non-sterile white foam pad supplied in a continuous roll. Because it comes as a long strip, you cut only what a given area requires — a small patch for a heel, a longer length wrapped along a splint or padding under a cast edge. The result is very little waste and a comfortable, conforming fit that rigid pre-cut pads can't always match.
The foam's self-adhering backing is designed to stay put on skin and equipment without needing separate tape, and it lifts away cleanly when it's time to reposition or replace it. Its cushioning role is often described as light support: it's meant to redistribute pressure and reduce shear, not to provide firm structural bracing. That makes it well suited to padding under braces and orthopedic devices, protecting skin beneath medical tubing, and everyday comfort padding wherever hardware or bedding meets fragile skin.
Keep in mind these are non-sterile — appropriate for intact-skin cushioning and padding applications rather than direct placement on an open wound, where a sterile dressing is the correct choice.
