SANI Glut Glutaraldehyde High-Level Disinfectant

Reprocessing endoscopes and heat-sensitive medical devices demands a disinfectant that meets high-level standards without damaging delicate instruments. SANI Glut from McKesson delivers a 3% glutaraldehyde solution formulated specifically for the manual immersion of endoscopes, probes, and other semi-critical devices that cannot withstand steam sterilization.

The McKesson SANI Glut High Level Disinfectant (JGLUT) ships in a convenient 1-gallon jug with a lemon scent to help mask the characteristic odor of glutaraldehyde. Once activated, the solution offers a maximum reuse period of up to 28 days, giving reprocessing departments a cost-effective working life while maintaining efficacy against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and mycobacteria.

Two questions come up most often with glutaraldehyde products. First, activation: SANI Glut requires activation before use, after which the reuse clock begins — always verify the concentration with test strips before each use and log the activation date. Second, ventilation and PPE: glutaraldehyde vapor is an irritant, so use it in a well-ventilated area or under a fume hood, wear nitrile gloves and eye protection, and keep containers covered between soaks to limit exposure. Following the contact times printed on the label is essential to achieve true high-level disinfection.

SANI Glut is best suited to central sterile, GI labs, and clinics that manually reprocess flexible scopes and reusable instruments. For surface disinfection and hard-surface cleaning alongside instrument reprocessing, explore the Sani-Cloth germicidal wipes and the fast-acting Sani-24 disinfectant. Hand hygiene in the same workspace is covered by Sani-Hands sanitizing products.
