Teleflex Simplastic Foley Catheters
The Simplastic line from Teleflex is built around a straightforward clinical need: dependable short- to medium-term urinary drainage with a catheter that stays soft and comfortable against delicate urethral and bladder tissue. Made from smooth PVC, these 2-way Foley catheters combine a drainage lumen with a balloon inflation channel, giving clinicians a secure, indwelling option for surgical recovery, incontinence management, and continuous bladder monitoring.
This collection centers on the 30 cc balloon configurations, which are commonly chosen after urologic or prostate procedures where a larger balloon helps apply gentle traction and hold the catheter firmly in place. You'll find both standard tip catheters, like the 20 Fr two-way model, and Couvelaire tip versions in 16 Fr and 18 Fr. The Couvelaire (oval, open-ended) tip offers wider drainage eyes, which helps when clots or heavier sediment could otherwise block flow — a practical advantage in post-surgical and hematuria cases.
Choosing the right one usually comes down to two questions: what French size does the patient need, and does the situation call for standard or clot-clearing drainage? French sizing reflects the outer diameter — a 16 Fr is often suitable for routine drainage, while 18 Fr and 20 Fr suit thicker urine, clots, or when a snug fit is needed. All Simplastic catheters here are sterile, single-use disposable, and several are color-coded by French size so staff can grab the correct gauge quickly during a procedure.
These are indwelling (retention) catheters, not intermittent devices, so they're intended to remain in place with the balloon inflated for the duration of use. For the softer variant with the same trusted PVC construction, see our related Soft Simplastic catheters, which prioritize added flexibility and patient comfort during longer wear.
