StayFix Catheter Fixation Devices
Anyone managing a percutaneous drainage catheter, nephrostomy tube, or biliary drain knows the real risk isn't the catheter itself — it's accidental dislodgement. A pulled tube means an interrupted treatment, a return trip to interventional radiology, and unnecessary discomfort. StayFix by Merit Medical is a sutureless fixation system built to keep catheters securely anchored without the skin trauma, needlestick risk, or infection concerns that come with traditional suture anchoring.
The StayFix design uses a hydrocolloid-based adhesive pad and a clamp mechanism that grips the catheter firmly while distributing tension away from the insertion site. Because there are no sutures, clinicians avoid the puncture wounds that can become entry points for bacteria — a meaningful advantage for patients wearing a device for days or weeks. The adhesive is gentle enough for repeated repositioning yet holds reliably against pulling, tugging, and normal movement.
Sizing matters here, and we carry the two configurations that cover most percutaneous applications. The Merit StayFix 680ME (Medium) fits 5 to 12 Fr. catheters, making it well suited to smaller percutaneous and drainage lines. For larger tubes, the Merit StayFix 685ME secures 14 to 22 Fr. catheters. Matching the device to your catheter's French size is the key to a secure hold — an undersized clamp won't grip, and an oversized one won't distribute tension properly.
StayFix is used across hospital, outpatient, and home-care settings wherever a catheter needs dependable, low-trauma stabilization. Replace the pad according to your facility's protocol and whenever the adhesive lifts or the site needs assessment.
