3M Steri-Strip Skin Closures

Steri-Strip skin closures are 3M's adhesive wound closure strips used to hold the edges of a wound or incision together without sutures or staples. Clinicians reach for them to close minor lacerations, reinforce a closure after stitches or staples come out, and support surgical incisions during healing. This collection carries the genuine 3M line in the sizes and pack formats that actually get used at the bedside.

The Blend Tone strips (B1551, B1557, B1559) use a skin-tone, non-woven backing for a more discreet appearance—handy for closures on visible areas like the face or hands. They come in .25 in x 3 in, .5 in x 2 in, and .5 in x 4 in, so you can match strip width and length to the wound. The Reinforced R1548 strips (1 in x 5 in) add a filament reinforcement for stronger holding across incisions under more tension, available as single 4-strip packs, boxes of 25 packs, and full cases of 400 for higher-volume settings.

Every strip here is sterile and latex-free. To apply, clean and dry the skin (a tincture of benzoin or skin-prep boosts adhesion), pull the wound edges together, and lay strips across the wound about 1/8 inch apart, leaving space for drainage. They're designed to stay put through normal activity and gradually lift at the edges as the wound heals—typically left in place 5 to 10 days depending on location. Keeping a few sizes on hand means you're ready whether you're closing a shallow cut or reinforcing a longer incision.

Facilities stocking multiple sizes may also want the Steri-Strip Skin Closure Rack (1555), which organizes four to eight boxes in any combination for quick grab-and-go access. For adhesive surgical draping from the same manufacturer, see our 3M Steri-Drape collection.
