Stratasorb
Stratasorb Composite Island Dressings
Medline Stratasorb is a five-layer composite island dressing engineered to handle wound care in a single application—no separate primary dressing, secondary pad, or tape required. Each dressing combines a non-adherent contact layer, an absorbent core, and a breathable polyurethane backing surrounded by a gentle adhesive border, so clinicians can cleanse, cover, and secure a wound in one step. That all-in-one design is exactly why nurses and wound care teams reach for Stratasorb across acute, long-term, and home health settings.
The polyurethane outer film acts as a bacterial and fluid barrier while still letting the wound bed breathe, which supports a moist healing environment and helps protect against outside contamination. The centered island pad wicks and holds low to moderate exudate away from the skin, and the low-trauma adhesive border holds securely without pulling at fragile peri-wound tissue on removal.
Our current offering is the Medline Stratasorb Composite Island Dressing (MSC3044), a 4 x 4 inch rectangle with a defined absorbent island. Buyers commonly ask about pad-to-border ratio and coverage: on this 4 x 4 size, the adhesive border frames a smaller central pad, so measure your wound and allow adequate margin for the island to sit over the wound bed while the border adheres to intact surrounding skin.
Stratasorb is well suited to post-surgical incisions, skin tears, abrasions, and minor lacerations with light to moderate drainage, and to protecting IV and catheter sites. It is not intended as a primary dressing for heavily exuding or infected wounds, where an alginate or foam under a secondary cover may be more appropriate.
