Choosing a Surgilance lancet comes down to two things: how deep the puncture needs to go and how much blood the test requires. Medipurpose color-codes the entire line so you can match gauge and depth at a glance, whether you're drawing a light capillary sample or a fuller flow for glucose and hemoglobin testing. Every lancet is single-use, sterile, and pressure-activated — the needle triggers only when pressed firmly against the skin and retracts automatically afterward, so there's no exposed sharp before or after the stick.

For low-volume or delicate skin, the Surgilance Lite (SLL220) uses a fine 28G needle at 2.2 mm depth (orange), and the 21G / 1.8 mm gray (SLN200) gives a shallow puncture ideal for lighter draws. When you need a stronger sample, the 21G / 2.2 mm orange (SLN240) delivers medium blood flow, and the 21G / 2.8 mm pink fingertip (SLN300) is built for maximum flow on adult fingertips. The color-coded Blue (SLB250) and Yellow adult (SLN100) options round out the range for routine capillary sampling.

Higher gauge numbers mean a finer needle and less discomfort; deeper penetration and lower gauge yield more blood. Match the lancet to both the patient and the test — a fingerstick glucose check has different needs than a heelstick or a light routine draw.
