Tuff Heavy Duty Trash Bags & Can Liners
When a liner tears mid-haul, it becomes everyone's problem. The Tuff line from Colonial Bags Company is built to keep that from happening — extra heavy-duty low-density polyethylene liners engineered for facilities, breakrooms, patient rooms, and janitorial carts where weight, sharp edges, and heavy fills are routine. If you're buying for a hospital, clinic, or care facility, this is the tier that holds up.
Most Tuff bags run 0.75 mil thick in a linear low-density (LLDPE) film, which is the sweet spot for stretch and puncture resistance without paying for a heavier commercial-grade liner you don't need. The stretch matters: LLDPE gives before it splits, so overstuffed cans and awkward loads are far less likely to blow out a seam. A lighter 0.50 mil option (the 24 x 32 inch CRW32M) covers everyday, lower-weight waste where you want cost efficiency.
Sizing is the question most buyers actually need answered, so match the bag to the can — not just the gallon rating. The 30-gallon CRW36X (30 x 36 in.) and 33-gallon CRW39X (33 x 39 in.) in white suit standard round and step cans in offices and patient areas. The Tuff Super Liner XPW36X covers 30-gallon needs where you want a clear or untinted liner, while the larger 40 x 46 in. XPW46X and 38 x 58 in. XPW58X fit tall commercial slim-jim and rolling containers. As a rule, the flat width should be about half your can's circumference, and the length should reach the bottom plus enough overhang to cuff the rim.
All Tuff liners are open-ended for easy loading and quick changeouts. These are general-waste can liners — for regulated medical waste, use color-coded or biohazard-labeled bags that meet your disposal protocol.
