Ultrafix Dressing Retention Tape
Ultrafix is a self-adhesive, non-woven retention tape built to hold dressings securely in place without the bulk or discomfort of traditional taping. Because it's applied over wounds, IV sites, and post-surgical dressings, the questions that matter most are simple: will it stay put, and will it come off without tearing skin? Ultrafix answers both — a breathable fabric backing conforms to contours and joints, while a gentle acrylic adhesive keeps dressings anchored through movement, bathing, and daily wear.
This collection carries two widths of Integra LifeSciences Ultrafix, each supplied in generous 11-yard rolls so a single roll covers repeated dressing changes. The Ultrafix 2 Inch x 11 Yard Retention Tape (62036) is well suited to smaller dressings, cannula sites, and areas that need frequent re-taping, while the Ultrafix 4 Inch x 11 Yard Non-Woven Tape (62037) covers larger abdominal, back, or surgical dressings in a single strip. Both are white, non-sterile, and latex-free — an important detail for patients and caregivers managing latex sensitivities.
What sets retention tape apart from rigid medical tapes is how it distributes hold across a wider surface. The non-woven backing lets you tear it to size by hand — no scissors needed — and its skin-friendly adhesive is designed to peel away cleanly, reducing the skin stripping that repeated dressing changes can cause. That combination of breathability and low-trauma removal makes Ultrafix a practical choice in hospitals, clinics, long-term care, and home wound management alike.
To measure a roll for your needs, match the tape width to your dressing size, then plan on overlapping the edges by an inch or so onto healthy skin for a secure seal. Wider dressings and areas prone to movement generally benefit from the 4-inch width.
