The 4 x 4 inch gauze sponges are loosely woven with cotton fiber, which helps keep the wound clean by wicking any fluid substance that has exuded out from the wounded area. Cotton gauze sponges are soft and gentle on sensitive skin, which is beneficial for applying ointment. Cotton sponges have folded edges to minimize linting. Sterile gauze sponges come in peel-back pouches and trays which help to maintain hygiene and avoid contamination caused by unsanitary handling. The sponges are white and don't contain any potentially irritating dyes.
