This McKesson Adhesive Island Dressing is created with bordered gauze which is an absorptive dressing consisting of three layers: a low adherent layer that protects the wound surface; an absorbent gauze layer that absorbs exudate; and a non-woven adhesive tape that holds the dressing in place and maintains a moist wound environment. The non-adherent contact layer also helps prevent skin maceration and provides high absorption. This dressing is designed for light to moderate amounts of exudate and acts as either a primary or secondary dressing, and it creates a barrier against external contamination. It also conforms easily to body contours, even in hard to dress areas, while its adhesive border is combined with a non-adherent gauze pad making it an ideal alternative to gauze and tape.
