Nebulizers
Respiratory Nebulizers
A respiratory nebulizer is an air compressor designed to turn liquid medication into a fine mist that patients can inhale deeply into their lungs. Its function is to deliver medicine used to treat asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis. People with these conditions often carry inhalers when they are outside the home and rely on nebulizers for daily in-home use or for flare-ups. Nebulizers and their accessories are also standard equipment in hospitals, clinics and other care facilities.
Nebulizer Treatments
In a typical treatment, the liquid medication is poured into a small cup that is attached by tubing to the compressor. The compressor pushes air through the liquid medication, turning it into a fine mist. The top of the cup is attached to a mouthpiece or mask allowing the patient to inhale the mist. A nebulizer treatment typically takes from 10 to 20 minutes.
For small children, a mouthpiece or an inhaler is difficult to use, so using a pediatric face mask is the best way to deliver the often lifesaving medication. Honest Medical offers nebulizers and the accessories needed to use them. This includes the following:
- Nebulizers: The Pulmo-Aide Nebulizer Compressor Kit includes the nebulizer compressor, tubing, medication cup and mouthpiece as well as a built-in storage area for the cup.
- Accessories: These accessories include tubing, cups, mouthpieces and masks designed for use by both adults and children.
- Adaptors and Connectors: Critical care adapters help medical professionals choose the oxygen concentration each patient needs from 33% to 98%. These nebulizer accessories are typically used for critical care patients.
- Pediatric Care: For pediatric use there are nebulizer masks, tubes and cups designed to use with small children.
