Parafilm M is the self-sealing, flexible thermoplastic film that lab technicians reach for when a beaker, flask, or culture plate needs a moisture-resistant seal without a rigid cap. Stretch it to two or three times its length, press it around a container, and it clings to itself — no adhesive, no heat, no fuss. That combination of pliability and a semi-transparent, paraffin-based barrier is why it has been a fixture on lab benches for decades.
